Lisa D. Duckworth, describes herself as an Army veteran, breast cancer survivor, recovering HR Business Partner and serial volunteer.. She is the “State of Utah”s Lone Local Veteran Employer Representative" for the entire state. She advocates for employment opportunities for the veteran and military community by working with organizations that provide employment, training and development opportunities. Lisa redesigned and administers the Utah Patriot Partnership, the state’s network of Military Friendly employers. She was one of the first SHRM Veteran Ambassadors in Utah, choosing to participate in the program since its inception in 2019. She serves on the Utah SHRM Board of Directors. Lisa has been an invited speaker to Utah SHRM’s State conference for several years and the National Symposium for Quality Employment. She speaks about ways to understand the military community and veterans better, increasing opportunities for meaningful longer term veteran employment. Lisa supported the Veterans Affairs Administration VR&E In person Career Fair on June 26, 2024. She assisted in getting selected employers, assisted in marketing efforts and ran a booth during the event. She was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the VR&E staff. The event saw participation from 144 veterans, servicemembers, and their family members. These attendees had the opportunity to interact with representatives from 38 employers. The employers represented a diverse range of industries, providing a broad spectrum of job opportunities for the attendees. Lisa partnered on a joint project with VBA VR&E to conduct Virtual Industry Spotlight Employer Panels. These panels were advertised nationally and supported by the VBA. The panels featured employers in industries that were of interest to work ready VR&E Veterans The inaugural event was held July 25, 2024, (just two days after Lisa’s mother passed away unexpectedly.) Still working through her grief, Lisa moderated them all.
