Greg Hamm has made a lasting and measurable impact on the military and veteran community through his leadership, advocacy, and personal commitment. As the head of veteran recruitment at Werner Enterprises, Greg has created a strong, sustainable pathway for veterans and military spouses to find meaningful employment. In 2024 alone, his efforts contributed to the hiring of nearly 2,000 veterans and military spouses across driving, technician, and corporate roles. Since 2006, Werner has hired over 70,000 veterans or their spouses, a legacy Greg continues to help grow.
Greg has been instrumental in expanding workforce development opportunities by launching new Department of Labor-registered apprenticeship programs, helping veterans translate their military experience into skilled civilian careers. Under his leadership, Werner earned its first-ever 5 Star Employer designation from the VETS Indexes and multiple Military Friendly® rankings, including #1 Military Spouse Friendly® Employer and #3 Military Friendly® Company.
Beyond the workplace, Greg is an active community advocate. In 2024, he participated in the 50 Mile March—an endurance event raising awareness for veteran suicide, homelessness, and PTSD—demonstrating his personal dedication to the causes that affect service members long after their military careers end. Greg also played a key role in Werner receiving the American Legion's National Award for Outstanding Large Employer of Veterans, further validating his impact at a national level.
From expanding employment pipelines to championing mental health and transition support, Greg Hamm’s influence extends well beyond the corporate setting. His work has opened doors, created second chances, and strengthened the support network for those who have served. Through his vision and compassion, Greg has helped redefine what it means to be a true champion for veterans in both business and community.
