Why you should attend?

The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) supports military and veterans with a full time Director in addition to the full time School Certifying Official. The Director is a single point of contact who is able to help navigate student veterans' transition into higher education. Building personal relationships between UMA and veterans is a significant factor in retention and success. UMA secured funding from a local foundation to renovate an existing large space on campus. It is prime real estate, central to all foot traffic, and provides adjacent space for the Director's office. Veteran students and staff worked with local contractors in the design of an accessible Veteran Academic Center. Although a professional work space, the sense of community is felt by anyone who enters.
