Southwest Virginia Community College is a comprehensive two-year public college established through the Virginia Community College System. SWCC welcomes and values individuals of strong character, integrity and a heart for service. Veterans embody these values. Dedicated advisors and support staff are trained in best practices to enhance veterans' academic success. Veterans have exclusive access to the Veterans Lounge and Resource Center. Our Credits2Careers portal allows veterans to leverage prior military training into education credits. The Student Veterans Association provides a voice for military students and the Veterans Upward Bound provides dedicated services from pre-college preparation, assistance with financial assistance and comprehensive support services through graduation and job placement. SWCC is ranked tenth among two year colleges in the United States by Best for Vets.

Our school has instituted policies to address the concerns and needs of military spouses and their families. We've constructed our admissions, retention, career counseling, and mentoring programs to help alleviate the difficulties faced by military spouses.
