Army & Air Force Exchange Service

The Exchange is a non-appropriated fund entity of the Department of Defense. Established in 1895, the Exchange is the 54th largest retail organization in the U.S. With annual revenues of $7.5 billion, the Exchange employs approximately 35,000 associates, including military personnel. In the last 10 years, the Exchange benefit has provided $3.4 billion in earnings for critical military Quality-of-Life programs such as outfitting 700,000 Warfighters at cost annually, providing school meal support for Department of Defense Education Activity facilities overseas and delivering needed services to locations impacted by natural disasters.

For the Exchange, there is no greater honor than serving those who serve. The Exchange serves an eligible customer base of 31 million active-duty military; retirees; National Guardsmen; Reservists; 100% disabled honorably discharged Veterans; all other honorably discharged Veterans (online only); authorized Public Health Service associates; authorized National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration associates; Coast Guard members and family members. In 2020 the Exchange extended our shopping benefit to veterans who received the Purple Heart Recipients, former Prisoners of War, veterans with a service-connected disability (VA certified ratings of 90 percent and above). In 2021 the same benefit has been extended to DoD civilians and members of the Coast Guard at Exchange stores in the United States, U.S. territories and possessions where the individual is employed.
