Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Luke Medvegy has made a lasting and measurable impact on his community through leadership, innovation, and compassionate service. Drawing on over two decades of military experience, Luke has applied his strategic mindset and servant leadership to uplift others, especially veterans, first responders, and underserved rural populations.
As President of American Heroes Equine Connection Incorporated, Luke provides equine-assisted therapy to help veterans and first responders heal from PTSD. Through this nonprofit, he has created a safe, restorative environment where those struggling with invisible wounds can find purpose, peace, and a path forward. His leadership has enabled the organization to serve a growing number of individuals throughout Indiana, home to over 450,000 veterans.
In his role as Executive Director for Veteran Services and Strategic Partnerships at American Skyport, Luke is developing a national model for multimodal transportation infrastructure aimed at revitalizing rural communities. His work focuses on improving access to healthcare, reducing commute times, and increasing economic opportunity—especially in areas often overlooked by traditional development.
Luke also serves as an IVMF/Bunker Labs Ambassador, mentoring veteran entrepreneurs and connecting them with vital resources. His guidance has helped countless veterans start businesses, build networks, and secure funding. He further amplifies this impact as a contributor to Veterans Lifestyle Magazine and a supporter of the Veteran Social Summit, where he shares insights to inspire and educate.
Beyond his professional roles, Luke donates his time to mentoring students and advising nonprofits. He is known as a connector, builder, and relentless advocate for those in need. Through every role he takes on, Luke creates opportunities, fosters growth, and strengthens the community fabric.
