Tony Ramirez exemplifies the qualities of a Veteran of the Year®—a man of strong character, unwavering dedication, and a deep commitment to service, both in and out of uniform. After honorably serving his country, Tony returned to his hometown of Graham, Texas, determined to give back in ways that uplift and inspire his community. His service to Graham began with civic engagement, attending city council meetings and advocating for greater transparency in local government. Understanding the power of informed citizens, Tony took it upon himself to share crucial updates through social media, encouraging residents to attend meetings and participate in decision-making. His efforts helped push for the city to stream meetings live, ensuring accessibility for all. Beyond civic involvement, Tony used his passion for technology to bring the community together in a unique way. Teaching himself drone photography, he provides breathtaking aerial views of local events, capturing moments that foster unity and pride in Graham. His work is more than a hobby—it is a labor of love, shared freely with his hometown. This year, Tony stepped outside his comfort zone to take on a new challenge—serving as a part-time PE coach and athletic coordinator at Open Door Christian School. Though unfamiliar territory, his leadership and mentorship have had an immediate impact on students, instilling perseverance, teamwork, and integrity. His willingness to take on this responsibility speaks to his character and dedication to shaping the next generation. Most of what Tony does for Graham is voluntary. Whether informing the community, documenting events, or guiding young athletes, he serves not for recognition but to make a difference.
