Marty’s credo is “it is not about me; it’s about my soldiers.” His outspoken support of veterans with PTSD landed him on the cover of the Careers and the Disabled Magazine, Veterans Edition. He openly shares his journey with PTSD in hopes he will motivate others to get help like he did. Issues such as PTSD and suicide are never easy conversations, but he tackles these conversations with pride and enthusiasm. He meets people where they are in life and seeks to improve these veterans’ quality of life. He never misses an opportunity to assist veterans in getting support, counseling, and disability benefits for their injuries, seen and unseen, and improve the lives of their families. His guidance, counsel, and assistance has helped countless veterans and their families across America.
Marty is a dedicated advocate for all things veteran related. His civilian efforts include the Arthritis Foundation, Life Member of the VFW, Life Member of the Military Order of the Cootie, Life Member of the DAV, member of the American Legion. He uses his passion for cars to support veterans and their families. As President of the West Michigan Mustang Club, he supports the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans with private car shows for the residents and donates proceeds of his club’s annual car show to the Home as well. His passion for cars and car collecting connects him with veterans of all ages and these connections lead to assisting these veterans no matter their needs. From a handshake to a ride to a Veterans Service Officer, Marty does it all for our military veterans.
Marty never misses an opportunity to connect veterans with missing DD214s and other service-related documents. He even researched, acquired, and presented with the entire veteran’s family present, a Desert Storm veteran with his missing medals.
