The School of Automotive Machinists & Technology “SAM Tech” was founded by Linda and Judson Massingill in 1985. The initial two courses (Automotive Engine/Block Machining and Automotive Engine/Cylinder Head Machining) received state approval in 1989. In 1991 Texas Veterans Education Coordinating Board, ACCSC and Department of Education approved SAM Tech. The third course, CNC Machining, approved by all entities in 2004. Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved SAM Tech to offer an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Automotive Engine/Block & Cylinder Head Machining in 2011. SAM Tech received approval to teach Motorsports Welding and EFI Calibration in 2015.
