Why work with us?

The Cincinnati Fire Department supports Veterans through multiple means. First, the CFD is part of the City's Military Employee Resource Group, supporting both Veterans on the CFD and those we provide service to. The department hosted a Cincinnati Veterans Medical Center mobile van visit to several district firehouses to see if CFD Veterans qualified for VA benefits. In addition to this, the department built into their EMS computer tablets a way to make referrals for Veterans in which we made calls for service on. These referrals would go to the VAMC to see if the member qualified for benefits or were in need of other Veteran services. The members of the CFD were also authorized to were service pins on their uniforms allowing them to identify themselves as Veterans and their branch of service. This allowed them to connect to Veterans in which they responded for calls of service. Finally, on the CFD's service dress uniform, a red stripe is placed on the left sleeve to identify the member as a Veteran.
