McMurry University, founded by the United Methodist Church in 1923, offers more than 45 major courses of study in the schools of Arts and Letters, Natural and Computational Sciences, Social Sciences and Religion, Education, Business and Nursing to its almost 1,200 students. McMurry's recent graduates have been accepted into graduate and professional programs at many prominent universities around the nation. With Dyess AFB nearby, military members are a frequent and welcome part of the campus culture. The university deeply discounts the costs paid by military members. Courses are offered on both the McMurry campus and at Dyess AFB.
