About Great Lakes Truck Driving School

Our school is the Nation's premier truck driving, heavy equipment, oilfield and pipeline safety training facility. We are situated on over 10 acres giving our students plenty of space to practice maneuvers, alley dock, excavation, etc. to prepare them for success on their exams. Our school's owner, Doris Young, has over 35 years of experience in the truck driving school industry and a passion for helping people reach their goals. We have many veteran instructors who pay special attention to our veteran students and their specific needs. Our school also has two School Certifying Officials who are eager to assist our veterans. Between our staff, expertise, and caring attitude, we help our grads become leaders in their career choice.

Our school has several military veteran instructors who are able to relate to our veteran students and give attention to their specific needs. We also have two VA School Certifying Officials who are eager to assist our veteran students with general questions or VA specific matters. Nearly half of our Instructional staff are veterans. Our commitment to veterans is to assist in the transition to meaningful and productive career.

We've constructed our admissions, retention, career counseling, and mentoring programs to help alleviate the difficulties faced by military spouses. A program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment, such as a crawler tractors, motor graders and scrapers, shovels, rigging devices, hoists, and jacks. Includes instruction in digging, ditching, sloping, stripping, grading, and backfiling, clearing and excavating.
