About Black Hills State University

Black Hills State University is a masters-level state university with 4,178 students. BHSU offers academic programs in business (AACSB), exercise science, natural sciences, social sciences, the arts, mass communication, health sciences and education. The university, founded in 1883, is located in Spearfish, S.D., which is recognized as one of the top 10 most livable small town in the USA and has also been recognized nationally for outdoor recreational opportunities. A second location, BHSU-RC, was established in Rapid City, the state's second largest city. BHSU, a member of NCAA Division II athletics, offers 14 sports and has champion rodeo teams.

Black Hills State University offers reduced tuition of $246.35 per credit hour for all current and active military personnel. With the federal government tuition assistance of $250, the reduced rate covers the full cost of a military student's education. BHSU offers a variety of services to help military members' with their academic needs, as well as evening and online courses for flexible scheduling.
