Military Veterans

James Madison University and JMU VALOR serve over 1,600 military-connected students each year. "Military-connected students" are active military, veterans, guardsman, reservists, and dependents and spouses of military members and veterans. JMU student veterans have a designated resource space in the heart of campus. Student veterans receive priority and service for admission and registration, and dedicated benefits specialists in our registrar’s office. JMU is proud of its Army officer producing Army ROTC program, which enhances the military-friendly nature of our institution. Military Spouses

Military dependents and spouses make up nearly two-thirds of JMU’s military-connected student community. They play an active role in campus life, contributing to organizations such as our Student Veterans Association and taking on leadership opportunities across the university. JMU provides support for veterans and their families, offering resources that include internships, student leadership development, career services, and counseling. Our goal is to ensure every military-connected student has the tools and opportunities to succeed—both in the classroom and beyond.
