Saint Martin’s University is an independent, four-year, coeducational university located on 300 acres in Lacey, Washington. Established in 1895 by the Catholic Order of Saint Benedict, the University is one of 14 Benedictine colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. Saint Martin’s prepares students for successful lives through its 31 majors, 11 master’s programs, one doctorate program and six certificate programs. Saint Martin’s welcomes more than 1,300 undergraduate students and 250 graduate students from many ethnic and religious backgrounds to its Lacey campus, and more to its extended campus at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Military Veterans

Saint Martin's offers personalized support to our active military and veterans, who comprise about 10% of the student population. These supports include the unique Washington Vets to Tech program and the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Success, established via a $583,135 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to provide comprehensive support services. Recognized as the first Purple Heart University in Washington by the Order of the Purple Heart, Saint Martin's was also ranked No. 30 for Best Colleges for Veterans by U.S. News & World Report and named a Military Support College of Distinction.

Military Spouses

Since its founding in 1895, Saint Martin’s has supported the spouses and dependents of active duty and veteran service members in their educational pursuits. Currently, 8% of the student population are family members. From online and hybrid course offerings, to teaching classes on the joint military base, Saint Martin’s has strived to meet the needs of our service members and their families by providing flexible options and academic pathways. Many of the student support services provided to service members are also accessible to their spouses and dependents, including academic advising, tutoring and scholarship opportunities.
