Northeast Iowa Community College

NICC was formed as Area 1 Vocational-Technical School in 1966. In 1979 the name of it was changed to Northeast Iowa Technical Institute. In 1988 formal approval of community college status was given and the name was changed to Northeast Iowa Community College. NICC has centers and service locations in six communities. In 2021 NICC ranked #3 out of Iowa’s 15 community colleges for two-year associates’ degrees by University HQ based on cost, admission and retention rate, graduation rate, online degrees and graduate salaries. MISSION STATEMENT: NICC provides in-demand education and training focused on improving lives, driving business success, and advancing community vitality. VISION STATEMENT: NICC will be the premier source for in-demand education, workforce training and partnerships, through innovative thinking and talent development.
