Why attend The University of Southern Mississippi

We respectfully honor the Service of our Military and their Families where we place their needs at the forefront. The University of Southern Mississippi is a Military Order of the Purple Heart academic institution located near Air Force, Navy and Army National Guard installations. We are partner with the Marine Corps Leadership-Scholar Program and established a Coast Guard Auxiliary University Program on our Coast Campus to accommodate student interests in all our Military Services. We are surrounded by a caring military community focused on providing all measures of support to Military Students, in particular, Student-Veterans. We establish a full-service Center for Military Veterans, Service Members and Families where they can find support while pursuing their educational goals. We are truly a "Military Caring" university.
